Resumo

Frequentemente a movimentação ortodôntica exige recursos adicionais de ancoragem e os mini-implantes ortodônticos modificaram os conceitos dos tratamentos que utilizam a ancoragem esquelética, por meio de uma abordagem cirúrgica simplificada e segura, apresentando-se como uma possível solução. A indicação e instalação deste novo dispositivo necessita de conhecimentos específicos da técnica cirúrgica, da aplicação clínica, bem como da ativação ortodôntica. Este artigo tem como objetivo descrever estes aspectos relevantes ao sucesso desta recente vertente da ancoragem esquelética.
