Profilaxia Antibiótica em Cirurgia Oral e Maxilofacial: Revisão de Literatura

Infecções bacterianas transcirúrgicas acometem mais facilmente pacientes com saúde debilitada, como imunossuprimidos e diabéticos não compensados. A profilaxia antibiótica (PA) é considerada uma aliada nesses casos, com o uso de antibiótico antes ou logo após o procedimento. Nesta revisão de literatura, foram analisadas as bases de dados com publicações sobre PA em cirurgia oral e maxilofacial, correlacionando o microbioma oral e antibióticos. Como conclusão, os antibióticos se mostram fundamentais na prevenção de infecções e a anamnese indispensável para, através da história médica do paciente, determinar a necessidade da PA. Novos estudos devem ser realizados para padronizar um consenso nos protocolos medicamentosos.
