Longevidade do implante em pacientes com histórico de doença periodontal

Resumo

O objetivo desta revisão sistemática foi identificar estudos clínicos sobre implantes instalados em pacientes com histórico de doença periodontal tratada para determinar a taxa de sobrevivência destes implantes quando comparado a implantes instalados em pacientes periodontalmente saudáveis e a ocorrência de peri-implantite. A busca de artigos publicados de Janeiro de 2004 até Setembro de 2014 foi realizada utilizando os bancos de dados PubMed, Bireme e Embase. Estudos elegíveis foram selecionados de acordo com os critérios de inclusão e exclusão. A primeira pesquisa no banco de dados revelou 111 títulos. Após serem aplicados os critérios de inclusão e exclusão, seis estudos mantiveram-se para a análise detalhada. Um total de 438 pacientes foram acompanhados por um período de 3-16 anos; 1061 implantes foram instalados nos pacientes avaliados. A ocorrência de peri-implantite foi maior em pacientes que apresentavam histórico de doença periodontal e a taxa de sobrevivência para os implantes instalados nesses pacientes foi de 92,1%. Como conclusão, tem-se que a instalação de implantes em pacientes com histórico de comprometimento periodontal apresenta menor taxa de sobrevivência e maior ocorrência de peri-implantite ao se comparar com pacientes sem histórico de doença periodontal.
