Abstract

Introduction: The high occurrence of bruxism in childhood has been observed. In the diagnosis of bruxism in childhood, it is important to conduct a detailed interview with the parents, applying specific criteria, considering that a child may not have the maturity to report the signs and symptoms of the disorder. Objective: List which questionnaires are available in Brazilian Portuguese for measuring bruxism in the pediatric population. Methods: Literature review was carried out on the LILACS, Pubmed and CAPES / MEC Journals Portal, with descriptors selected in DeCS. Full studies were included, in portuguese, english and / or spanish, which were used in the application of a questionnaire in brazilian portuguese in the child population. Literature review studies were excluded. Results: 24 studies met the proposed criteria and were included in this review. It was observed that only two of the studies used questionnaires translated into Brazilian Portuguese validated in their methodology, which presented some questions related to the presence of signs and symptoms of bruxism, but none of them are specific for the diagnosis of bruxism. Conclusion: It is concluded that there is a shortage of questionnaires translated and validated into Brazilian Portuguese for the assessment of bruxism in childhood.
