Abstract

Juvenile Ossifying Fibroma (JOF) are fibrous lesions of benign jaws of mesenchymal origin. It is presented in two variables, Juvenile Ossifying Trabecular Fibroma (JTOF) and Juvenile Psamomatoid Ossifying Fibroma (JPOF). It presents more aggressive clinical behavior and commonly affects children and young people in the age group from 5 to 15 years and is more common in the maxilla.  This lesions require surgical removal as a form of treatment. Histologically, this lesion is characterized by densely cellularized fibrous stroma, presenting osteoid deposits devoid of osteoblastic margin, associated with more typical immature bone trabeculae in the case of JTOF, and occasional psammomatoid structures, evidenced in JPOF. This article presents the surgical treatment of two cases of Juvenile Ossifying Fibroma being one Juvenile Ossifying Trabecular Fibroma and another Juvenile Psamomatoid Ossifying Fibroma. In one of the cases there was a need for reconstruction with titanium plate to return aesthetics and function to the patient.
