Abstract

The presence of complications in oral rehabilitation of edentulous patients with fixed prostheses supported by implants is not a totally isolated or zero-occurrence issue, its prevalence is a common phenomenon despite the high success rate of this type of rehabilitation treatment, the nature of these complications may be of mechanical, technical or due to the influence of particular factors of the patient. The aim of this study was to report two clinical cases of maxillary dentures fixed on implants where there were some situations derived from clinical and laboratory processes and the occurrence of complications after installation of them, and through this scenario the proposed solution protocol for these failures is described. The most common failures after rehabilitation with the use of implants are related to biomechanics, some of which can be resolved without making complex procedures. The application of appropriate criteria in the planning made by the professional, correct technical preparation and handling of materials and communication with the laboratory can minimize the possibility of manifestation of complications with this rehabilitation modality.
