Abstract

Acute hematogenous osteomyelitis (AHO) is a relatively common condition in children under 5 years of age, most often located in the femur or tibia. We present an unusual case of a patient treated at a private health care hospital in Aracaju-SE with distal radius AHO complicated by a subperiosteal abscess and compartment syndrome. The clinical report reaffirms the importance of early diagnosis and management since most complications are related to long-term infection, including subperiosteal abscess and compartment syndrome.
