Abstract

Introduction: Gynecological cancer, especially cervical cancer, has a high incidence among women and is a relevant cause of morbidity and death in Brazil. It becomes important to know the risks, epidemiological and behavioral data of the population involved with the tumors. Objective: To verify the epidemiological, clinical profile and the survival time of women with gynecological cancer treated in a reference service of oncology in Agreste Pernambuco. Material and Methods: The study was developed in an Oncology Center in the municipality of Caruaru-PE. The sample was composed of patients with gynecological cancer seen between January 2007 and December 2017. Results: 433 women were included, of which, 30 (6.93%) died during the study period. The mean age at diagnosis was 57.57 years (SD ± 34.71). The most frequent cancer identified was of the cervix (62.12%), followed by endometrium (19.40%), ovary (14.78%), vagina (2.54%) and vulva (1.15%). Regarding survival time, a total of 15 (50.00%) died in the first year of treatment, 06 (20.00%) in the second, 05 (16.67%) in the third, 02 (6.67%) in the fourth, 01 (3.33%) in the fifth, and 01 (3.33%) in the sixth year. There were no deaths between the 7th and 10th year after treatment. Conclusion: Cervical cancer was the most prevalent among the women included in this study, as for survival, the first year after treatment proved to be the most critical period for survival of patients.
