Background: Restoring sensitivity in the finger pulp is very important after trauma with soft tissue injuries (coverage defects), as loss of sensitivity can lead to serious functional consequences and losses. This study aims to evaluate the sensitivity of local flaps used to treat digital pulp coverage failures. Methods: Retrospective study with analysis of medical records, which included patients treated with local advancement or island flaps in a tertiary hospital, from March 2022 to August 2024. Sensitivity was assessed using esthesiometry and the 2-point static discrimination test. The data were subjected to descriptive and exploratory analysis, with a significance level of p<0.05. Results: A total of 165 local flaps were evaluated in 154 patients with a mean age of 35.1 ± 16.9 years. The mean follow-up time was 5.6 ± 4.2 months. 78.8% of cases were managed with advancement flaps and 21.2% with island flaps. There was no statistically significant difference between the groups in the outcomes of esthesiometry and the static 2-point discrimination test. Conclusion: Both types of local flap provided good coverage of the digital pulp, with satisfactory and close-to-normal sensory recovery.Level of evidence III; retrospective cohort study ¬Level of evidence III; retrospective cohort study
