Abstract

Introduction: Fluid composites have advantages such as high flowability on the dentin surface, facilitating penetration along pits and fissures, forming layers with minimal thickness, in addition to being a minimally invasive alternative, being considered an extremely conservative technique. Objective: to discuss the applicability and effectiveness of fluid resin, emphasizing its benefits as it is a less invasive method when compared to the traditional restorative procedure. Methods: A literature review was carried out through scientific articles published in the last five years (2017-2021) present in the PubMed/Medline online database. Results and discussion: The application of fluid resin offers a cavity preparation oriented to the location of the caries with an easy and high-quality filling. In addition, it provides good esthetics for the dentition as well as reliable survival rates, even for patients at high risk of caries. In addition, the fluid composite acts by contact, therefore, with greater penetration depth, it improves marginal adaptation, reducing the chances of recurrent caries and adaptation failure. Conclusion: The indication of flowable resin as a sealing technique can provide the interruption and even stoppage of caries lesions in dentin, being a non-invasive, low-cost technique that preserves healthy dentin tissue.
