Integrative Review on the Association of the Impact of Quality of Life and Chemical Dependency on the Oral Health and TMJ of People in Extrem Situations of Socioeconomic Vulnerability

Introduction: People in extreme situations of socioeconomic vulnerability, such as those experiencing homelessness, face multiple social vulnerabilities daily, with oral health and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) care often neglected.Objective: To evaluate, based on scientific literature, the correlations between quality of life, chemical dependency, oral health, and TMJ disorders in homeless individuals.Methodology: Integrative literature review using PubMed, SciELO, and BVS databases, with the descriptors: quality of life, chemical dependency, oral health, TMJ, and homeless people. 14 articles were included based on inclusion criteria such as relevance and publication date. Conclusion: The findings highlight the need for comprehensive and humanized public health policies that address the intersection between social vulnerability, substance abuse, oral health, and TMJ disorders.
