Introduction: the dental biocorrosion causes the pathological dissolution of enamel and/or dentin, which occurs due to the action of acids not derived from bacterial metabolism. In this context, because this condition is associated with a multifactorial etiology, its correct treatment to control or minimize its progression is considered complex and challenging. Objective: to discuss the existents approaches to treat cases of dental biocorrosion of extrinsic origin, including its correct dental clinical management. Material and method: a narrative literature review of a descriptive nature was carried out by searching for data in electronic databases: PubMed, Scielo and Google Scholar, using the descriptors in portuguese/english: tooth erosion, tooth wear, tooth demineralization and dentin sensitivity. Results: After a careful filtering, 33 scientific productions were chosen to integrate this review. Briefly, it could be seen that the treatment of extrinsic dental biocorrosion is complex and multifactorial, with the main challenge being to interrupt the presence of acids in contact with the teeth. Therefore, early diagnosis in addition to a detailed clinical examination is essential for a better prognosis. Conclusion: it was possible to conclude that, despite the existence of a variety of treatments for cases of dental biocorrosion, ranging from preventive measures such as fluortherapy to more invasive treatments such as restorations with composite resin, resinous infiltrates, veneers or ceramic laminates, what will determine the choice of approach to be performed is the severity and extent of the biocorrosive lesion. Therefore, the individualization of treatment for each clinical case is recommended.
