Abstract

Composite resin stands out as one of the main restorative materials in dentistry due to its favorable mechanical properties and satisfactory esthetics. However, the shade selection step still represents a clinical challenge. In this context, universal composite resins with the so-called “chameleon effect” have been developed, allowing chromatic adaptation to the dental substrate and simplifying the shade selection process. The aim of this study was to report a clinical case of esthetic restorations in anterior teeth using a universal composite resin, employing a single shade in different increments. After initial clinical evaluation, the Warm shade from the Filtek Easy Match system (Solventum, Saint Paul, USA) was selected to perform direct Class IV restorations on teeth 11 and 21. The restorative technique involved the construction of increments corresponding to the palatal shell, dentin, and enamel, using a single composite resin. The final outcome showed satisfactory esthetic and functional results, demonstrating the clinical applicability of Filtek Easy Match composite resin. Composites with a chameleon effect contribute to optimizing the shade selection process, which is often challenging when conventional resins are used, reducing clinical time and favoring satisfactory esthetic outcomes.
